Sri Lanka signs $50m deal for seismic study

Sri Lanka signed a $50m agreement yesterday, with Eastern Echo DMCC- a Schlumberger subsidiary, for carrying out seismic studies off the country’s east coast to look for any prospective oil resources. The agreement consists of carrying out seismic data acquisition surveys, advanced data processing and interpretation work or modeling of petroleum systems. Sri Lanka has no oil production and is totally reliant on imports for all of its fuel requirements.
