KKR's Independence Energy, Contango Oil & Gas aim for $5.5B all-stock merger

KKR & Co.'s Independence Energy and Contango Oil & Gas Co. are near an agreement to combine in an all-stock deal that could value the new business at about $5.5 billion, including debt. The aim is to expand the combined firm's oil and gas footprint. The new company, which will be based in Houston and operate under a new name and ticker symbol, plans to seek a listing on the New York Stock Exchange.

Developer signs module deal for 1GW Las Vegas PV

US developer Primergy Solar has signed an agreement for solar modules from for a 1GW photovoltaic project it is developing in Las Vegas, Nevada.The agreement for the Gemini solar-plus-storage project will see the Maxeon-supplied modules delivered over a four-quarter period starting in the second quarter of 2022. Project completion is planned by the end of 2023.

RWE enters into solar energy agreement with Facebook and TVA

RWE Renewables (RWE) has partnered with Facebook and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to realise a 150 MW solar facility in Shelby County, Tennessee, US. Facebook will use 110 MW of the solar energy to support the company’s data centre operations in Gallatin, Tennessee, and the broader Tennessee Valley.

Voltalia (Euronext Paris, ISIN code: FR0011995588), an international player in renewable energies, today announced the signing of a share purchase agreement for the sale of 100% of its 128 megawatt VSM2 and 59 megawatt VSM4 wind farms to the Brazilian utility Copel. The actual sale is scheduled for November 30, 2021, once the conditions precedent have been met.

juwi to Build Solar Battery Hybrid Project at Egypt’s Largest Gold Mine

South Africa-based subsidiary of German renewable energy company juwi has signed an agreement with Sukari Gold Mines to design, supply, build, and integrate a solar battery hybrid power plant for Egypt’s largest gold mine. The hybrid power solution will reportedly reduce diesel consumption by an estimated 22 million liters of emission per year and bring down sustaining costs and fuel price volatility.

DNV, the independent energy expert and assurance provider, has acted as technical consultant to Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) during the development of the 1.5 GW Sudair Solar PV project. DNV supported SPPC for over two years with a scope of work which included preparation of project protocol documents, setting the technical conditions of the project, such as project grid interconnection requirements, technical aspects of the PPA and the transmission connection agreement.

IRENA and China State Grid Agree to Advance Transition Through Power System Enhancements

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), have today signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see the two organisations work closely to support grid enhancements, system flexibility and sector-coupling in China and IRENA’s Clean Energy Corridor regions. The agreement aims to advance the global energy transformation towards a net zero energy future particularly in developing countries.
