Report Identifies 32 Cyber Breaches in Oil, Gas in 2022

Thirty-two cyber breaches occurred within the oil/gas/energy sectors in 2022, according to a new report by cybersecurity firm Tenable. The number put oil/gas/energy tenth highest in a list comprising 29 industries for 2022 breaches, which was included in the report. Health care and social assistance ranked first, with 472 breaches, public administration ranked second, with 162 breaches, and educational services ranked third, with 137 breaches.

Oil companies are struggling to scale digital technologies, says Accenture

A recent survey by Accenture on “Accenture Upstream Oil and Gas Digital Trends Survey 2019” reveals that cybersecurity is the main focus of upstream oil and gas companies’ digital investments. The report also says that though the focus is set, the companies are still finding it difficult to scale digital technologies and unlock additional value. The second biggest focus was identified as cloud technologies.

Saipem’s servers in Italy suffer cyber-attack

Italian oil services giant, Saipem yesterday reported a major cyber-attack on its servers. The Milan-headquartered firm assured of taking “impact assessment measures”. Saipem is currently in the process of reporting the attack to the concerned authorities. A spokeswoman for the firm said, “We are collecting all the elements useful for assessing the impact on our infrastructures and the actions to be taken to restore normal activities.
