IBM, Amazon partner to extend reach of data tools for oil companies

(Reuters) - International Business Machines Corp and Amazon.com Inc’s Amazon Web Services said on Monday they would work together to extend the reach of a set of tools that oil companies use to manage disparate types of data. Amazon in 2018 worked with Royal Dutch Shell to create a technology to turn data from more than a century of oil production, largely from paper records, into a standardized format for multinational oil companies to improve efficiency across their operations.

Pulse Oil purchases 3-D seismic data

Pulse Oil Corp. announced that it has purchased 3D seismic data set for attaining its goal to unlock oil from the Nisku reefs through EOR. This data is critical for the Calgary-based company for asset optimization and will become a critical component of the contract awarded recently to Schlumberger for completing all three phases of the company’s petro-technical modeling of the Bigoray Nisku D and E pools.

ION announces 2D multi-client program in Newfoundland

In order to investigate the architecture and evaluate the petroleum potential of producing and non-producing areas, ION Geophysical Corporation has announced a new 2D multi-client program offshore Grand Banks in Newfoundland, Canada. In its first phase GrandSPAN, ION will acquire approx. 10,000 km of data with the expectation to sanction a second phase of approx. 5,000 km further south in 2019.
