Australia's O&G industry faces new indigenous heritage test

Ancient artefacts have been discovered on the seabed off Australia’s west coast. This discovery has opened up a new frontier for resource companies to look out for in conserving indigenous heritage. In July, archaeologists stumbled upon hundreds of stone tools submerged off the Dampier Archipelago in Western Australia, showing evidence of people living in the area when it was dry land more than 7,000 years ago.

Shell Offshore informs about its recent discovery

Shell's unit Shell Offshore Inc informed on Wednesday that it has made a discovery at Blacktip in the deep water U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The Upstream Director of the energy giant Shell commented, "Blacktip is Shell’s second material discovery in the Perdido Corridor and is part of a continuing exploration strategy to add competitive deep water options to extend our heartlands".

Stabroek resource estimation raised to approx. 5 Bboe

ExxonMobil has raised the recoverable resource estimate for the Stabroek Block to more than 5 Bboe. Exxon's 10th discovery offshore Guyana pushed the resource estimate from the block. ExxonMobil’s senior VP said “We will continue to apply what we’ve learned to identify additional exploration prospects and potential future discoveries that will deliver significant value to Guyanese people, our partners and shareholders.” The Stabroek block is spread across 6.6 million acres.

Shell announces deepwater oil discovery in Gulf of Mexico

Shell Offshore has reported a huge deepwater revelation in the Norphlet geological play in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico with its Dover well, which represents their expertise in discovering new, commercial resources in a heartland with the focus on deepwater growth. This discovery is viewed as an alluring potential tie-back. The company anticipates its worldwide deepwater production to surpass 900,000 boed by 2020, from established areas.
