Kosmos Energy and its partners have discovered gas at the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim-1 well (GTA-1) in the Albian reservoir. The GTA-1 well was drilled using the Ensco DS-12 rig. The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim gas project is situated offshore Mauritania and Senegal. The LNG project is expected to yield first gas in the first half of 2022.
Thailand-based E&P major, PTTEP has found an enormous gas field with first well drilled on the SK410B block offshore Sarawak, Malaysia. PTTEP’s Malaysian subsidiary discovered 252m of net gas pay, indicating a multi-trillion cubic feet (tcf) gas discovery. Drilled to a depth of 3,810 m, the Lang Lebah-1RDR2 is supposedly PTTEP’s largest discovery.
State-owned oil major, Petrobras informed in a regulatory filing yesterday of making natural gas discoveries in six deep-water fields in the Sergipe Basin. Petrobras will now plan a budget to finance production from the potential wells discovered in recent years. A Brazilian Newspaper has estimated that Petrobras could extract up to 20 million cubic meters of natural gas per day from the discovered fields.
Italian oil major, Eni has informed about discovering gas and condensate in CTP-Block 4, offshore Ghana. Eni used the Maersk Voyager drilling ship to drill the well on the Akoma exploration prospect, uncovering an estimated volume of 550-650 bcf of gas and 18-20 mmbbl of condensate. Eni operates the CTP-Block 4 where Vitol Upstream Tano, GNPC, Woodfields Upstream, and Explorco are partners.
Germany’s energy major, Wintershall Holding has been awarded 10% stakes in the Ghasha ultra-sour gas mega project by UAE. The energy giant, Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (ADNOC) informed about this deal on Monday. The foundation of this deal is ADNOC’s new integrated gas strategy which has been focused upon unlocking and maximizing value from Abu Dhabi’s gas reserves. Abu Dhabi wants to be gas self-sufficient in the coming future.
French supermajor Total has made a new natural gas discovery on the Glendronach prospect offshore UK. The firm believes that the discovered prospect will incur low cost for commercialization, given the leverage of existing Laggan-Tormore infrastructure. Early tests have estimated recoverable resources at about 1 tcf. Total operates the Glendronach discovery where Ineos E&P UK Ltd and SSE E&P UK Ltd are partners.
