Sinopec taps shale oil at mature east China oilfield

China's Sinopec Corp said on Tuesday it has tapped a daily flow of 30 tonnes of oil and 1,500 cubic meters of gas at a mature oilfield in east China's Jiangsu province. The company said the flows, from exploration well Hua-2-ce in the Jiangsu oilfield, marked a breakthrough in unlocking 1.1 billion tonnes of prospective shale oil resources in the Subei basin. The firm will accelerate the construction of a pilot shale oil production zone in the area, Sinopec said, without giving further details.

GEECL plans to invest USD 2 billion in shale gas exploration

India-based Great Eastern Energy Corp (GEECL) is planning to put in approximately $2 billion to exploit shale gas reserves in West Bengal’s Raniganj block. The company is looking to begin the initial exploration work of drilling core wells in 2019. GEECL has reached an initial understanding with state-owned GAIL (India) for an offtake or a transmission agreement through the upcoming Jagdishpur-Haldia & Bokaro-Dhamra pipeline.

The first U.S. shale gas cargo to arrive in Middle East

Israel will receive a cargo of U.S. shale gas. Since exports began in 2016, it is the first to arrive in the Middle Eastern nation from America’s shores. The vessel is called British Diamond and is beneficially owned by BP Plc. America is poised to compete with Qatar and Australia in global LNG dominance in the times to come.
