To enhance its position in Saskatchewan, Vermilion Energy, the international oil and gas producer, has agreed to buy Spartan Energy for about $860 million in stock. The Saskatchewan area is considered profitable with a favorable regulatory environment and this deal will further boost the firm’s production and acreage. The deal is expected to take Vermilion’s overall output to about 95,000 boe/d.
