Diesel prices have reached a record high, and petrol prices at a 56-month peak as the Oil PSUs hiked the rates, post state-elections in Karnataka. Petrol prices climbed by 17 paise and diesel by 21 paise a litre. This has led to speculations about the ruling-BJP government controlling the oil prices in the subcontinent, so as to favor the party into winning the elections.
