Iran yesterday said that the French oil major, Total SA has two months to secure an immunity from US sanctions, failing which the company’s stake in South Pars gas field will be given to Chinese state-backed, CNPC. Total signed a deal to invest more than $2bn in Iran in July 2017. But its operations came to a halt when US re-imposed sanctions earlier this month.
